Benoit was a wonderful surprise. We had not realized before our visit that it is the New York sister restaurant to Benoit in Paris, but once dinner began, the connection became obvious.
The food felt genuinely French rather than adapted for an American audience — beautifully prepared, polished and full of the kind of classic flavors that make a French bistro so satisfying. The atmosphere was warm and lively, and the entire evening had the easy confidence of a restaurant that knows exactly what it is.
For us, it was a lovely reminder of Paris in the middle of New York City — and a restaurant we would happily return to.
