Entertaining Made Simple

The best gatherings are rarely the most complicated. A welcoming table, a menu that can mostly be prepared ahead, and time to enjoy the people you invited—that is the kind of entertaining I love.

A Relaxed Approach to Gathering

Having our friends and family here for a meal is the best way to enjoy one another.  There is little to no formality, a privacy where we set rather than waiting for a restaurant to set the tone.

It's something I get genuinely excited..  Often it starts with a visit to the farmers market; using the freshest food in season.  And so much of it is making sure that I will enjoy the meal with my guests rather than beng stuck in the kitchen, struggling with a complicated menu.

Entertaining brings together so many things I love: choosing guests who will enjoy one another, planning a menu that can mostly be prepared ahead, shopping for the freshest seasonal ingredients, setting a welcoming table, and selecting music that creates just the right mood.

But the real joy comes when the preparations are finished, the first drink is poured, and I can sit down and enjoy the people gathered around the table.
